*Tigers in Trouble Draw Global Attention.
The first-ever summit dedicated to a single animal brought world leaders, officials and conservation groups to Russia last week. The International Tiger Conservation Forum in St. Petersburg convened in the waning days of the Chinese Year of the Tiger. Tigers are in serious trouble. Habitat loss and poaching have taken their toll. Only 3,200 are left in the wild down from 100,000 a century ago. At the summit the 13 nations with tiger populations endorsed the Global Tiger Recovery Program. The document details action plans for each country and region where tigers survive in the wild. "What the summit achieved was all the countries endorsing this Global Tiger Recovery program, which means that we now have all the heads of governments of the 13 countries agreeing to one single plan moving forward toward tiger conservation," says Barney Long, who manages the tiger program for the World Wildlife Fund, a key player in tiger conservation. He says the plan is a positive step forward for tigers. The world leaders also agreed to double tiger population by 2022. But their most immediate priority is to stop illegal poaching and trafficking by organized crime syndicates.

* The results of population census in Russia are distressing.
According to preliminary data Russian population continues decreasing. There were 145.17 million people in 2002, and now there are only 142.9 million of us. Russia has lost 2.2 % of its inhabitants for the last 8 years. It means that policy of population growth gives no results at all!

Dollar billionaires? We have a lot of them in Russia! Forbes made a list of Russian billionaires of 2011. And the number of them has grown from 62 to 101 for a year. The majority work in raw-material sector, but there are also such people who are involved in high tech industry (software) or internet sphere (mail.ru). There is only one woman in the list – Elena Baturina (1,2$ bn.). The average age is 49,5. So you have time to become one of them))) The younger millionaire is only 15 years old!
School drug tests.
The government is going to pass the law that will oblige all schoolchildren to make drug tests twice a year. It was said that the same experiment took place some months ago in some regions and now it's time to make school drug tests regular and obligatory. It was also mentioned that the same tests should also become regular in Universities and the students that will get "positive” results will be expelled.
Actually, it seems to be a strict but reasonable act - the number of drug addicts among schoolchildren and students is evenly increasing. But still some parents (from 3% to 15%) are against these tests. "What's the reason for that, I wonder? Don't they care about their children's health?” - these questions are quite logical in this case.
Russian, Maths… English?
The Ministry of Education is getting worried about the quality of teaching a foreign language at school. That is why it is decided that now not only 2 subjects (Russian and Maths) should be obligatory but it is also sensible to have one more subject as the USE- a foreign language that children study at school. The decision was taken after having analyzed the latest results of the German USE since they were the lowest ever (41 of 100). "After finishing any school, a child should be able to communicate in a foreign language! So it is for sure that these measures are the first step to speed up the process”
Turkey with no visa!
On the 16th of April Russia and Turkey introduced a visa-free regime. You know most of Russian tourists prefer to spend their holidays in this country and now it is difficult to imagine how things will be after the abolition of this visa system. But this step has its disadvantages for those how wants to stay there more than 30 days. They still need a visa, but the time for its preparation is prolonged up to 2 months. But as for me, I like the idea. Maybe sometimes we will travel to Europeans countries without "Schengen”?
*Modern children develop much faster than their parents did Nowadays, children develop much faster than their parents did some 30-40 years ago.
Modern children can receive tons of information very easily, which explains the phenomenon of faster development. This phenomenon is a norm today, which should not be regarded as giftedness.
During the research, scientists asked respondents to choose the character traits which they considered an obstacle for personal development. The respondents picked the following: modesty, self-sacrifice, the feeling of collectivism, mannerliness, obedience, the feeling of duty. All these "negative" traits were considered best human qualities during the Soviet times.
*Russians may be the first to reach the Sun
Despite the fact that the Sun is our "native" star, to date no one has been able to examine it at a close range. Now helio-physicists of several countries are working to create devices that would allow them to approach the sun as close as possible and study the processes taking place there. It is possible that the first solar probe will be launched in Russia.
Apart from the Russian project, there are currently also two similar projects abroad. European scientists are working on Solar Orbiter apparatus meant to study the Sun from a distance of 60 solar radii (this is slightly closer than the orbit of Mercury). The American Solar Probe will be approaching the Sun at a distance of only 8.5 radii from its surface.
However, Solar Orbiter will launch in 2017, and the Solar Probe - in 2018. As for the date of the launch of the Russian device, the experts believe it will occur in 2015. Russia has a real chance to be ahead of the rest of the world in this space endeavor.
*Russian Railways sign major deal with Siemens AG Russian Railways (RZD), Siemens AG and JSC Sinara Group signed an agreement about fundamental conditions of the delivery of 1,200 carriages of Desiro Rus (Lastochka) electric trains. The agreement also covers the localization of production of the trains which are going to be used to transport passengers during the Olympic Games in Russia's Sochi. The contract is evaluated at 2 billion euros.
The partners have agreed to establish a specialized engineering center to develop and modernize multiple-unit trains that will let RZD or other carriers order introduction of changes in the basic construction and configuration of the localized electric trains.
In 2014, Lastochka trains will be transporting passengers during the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and then during the Paralympic Games in the city.

Nikas Safronov’s exhibition has failed in Ryazan.Thousands of our citizens, especially artists and photographers were disappointed and furious. The reason for such reaction was those paintings that people all over the world get as a masterpiece. This great scandal began when Nikas Safronov told how he draws his paintings, he just prints it and covers by a coat of paint. I want to mention, that each painting costs more than 3 000 euros.
Visa as an indicator of confidence. Analytics say that the level of access control of one country towards another shows the relationships between these countries. That’s why the agreement concerning simplification of the visa system between the USA and Russia is of vital importance. Now you can obtain a multivisa for 3 years.
Moreover Sergey Lavrov says hat on the 7th of December Russia and the EU may come to an agreement to cancel a visa system between them at all. As for we I really wait for this day. Now it is quite hard for a person to obtain a non-touristic visa and it costs much. Are you agree that visa regime reflects the relationships between countries?
